USS Kentucky (BB-6) photographs, circa 1900.

This collection contains one half-tone image of the battleship USS Kentucky (BB-6) preparing for launch at the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company shipyard, Newport News, Virginia, on March 28, 1898. Image shows chalk marks on her hull plating, indicating the planned location of fittings and gun ports. The image is titled "No. 209 - The Battleship Kentucky on the Ways." Also included in this collection is a half-tone image of an unidentified battleship that has been dry-docked and is titled "No. 210 - A Battleship in Dry Dock." Both photographs were removed from a 5 x 7 picture book.
